What is Newcomer Score?

At Wiping Borders, we know finding housing as a newcomer without a Canadian credit history is tough. That’s why we created the Newcomer Score—a simple way to prove to landlords you’re a reliable tenant. If you qualify, we’ll also act as your rent guarantor, giving landlords added confidence to lease to you.

How is Newcomer Score Calculated?

The Newcomer Score is calculated using a fair and transparent process that evaluates your financial reliability based on three key factors:

1. Home Country Credit Score

2. Home Country Employment and Salary Proof

3. Proof of Savings or Secured Employment in Canada

Each factor is carefully weighted to provide a balanced and accurate representation of your financial stability and reliability.

Who accepts Newcomer Score?

We partner with 120+ landlords who accept the Newcomer Score. If your landlord isn’t one of them, you can apply for our Rent Guarantee Service. Using the same assessment process as the Newcomer Score, we’ll act as your guarantor for a small fee, giving your landlord the confidence to approve your lease.

The Process

1. Data Collection

You submit your documents securely through our platform. These include credit reports, employment proof, and either savings or secured employment details.

2. Verification

We partner with trusted global services like Experian, Equifax, CIBIL, and Trulioo to authenticate your information and ensure its accuracy.

3. Scoring and Reporting

Our system assigns a weighted score to each factor, combining them to generate your final Newcomer Score.
